Pay it forward
Pay it forward means giving a little, so that a young person can have a session that would be harder to fund right now.
We launch on Monday 2 November 2026, and we are building our community pot now: every full-price session hour puts £2 in.

What your money does
At first, your gift funds sessions. As we grow, it will fund more: groups, activities and socials for young people and the people around them.
One session hour’s share of the pot.
One whole session hour, for someone who needs it.
About a six-week writing group for ten young people.
Coming in 2027, when the board decides
A ten-minute course that gives anyone the key to a session from the pot: no professional to back you, no reason asked. Nothing is promised before it exists.
Card payments are coming. Until then, email and we will send the bank details and a receipt.
The charter: the nine rules the pot will run by
Published so anyone can hold us to them. The board adopts them at its first meeting.
- Where the money comes from. £2 of every full-price session hour, before anything else, rising to £3 and then £5 as the board decides, and never back below £2. Donations, one-off or regular. Fundraising, workplace giving and sponsored sessions. Grants, when a funder wants to top it up.
- What it pays for. Sessions, and nothing else: a whole session for someone whose circumstances right now make it harder to fund, or the difference when someone chooses a lower price. It never pays Sidecic’s other bills.
- How much, each month. Up to 10 sessions a month (£500 at the full price), or what the pot holds if that is less. First come, first served, through the word from the course or a lower price chosen at booking. When the month’s places are gone we say so, and the next request goes into next month’s places.
- What is left over. Unused places do not vanish. The money stays in the pot, and the count starts again on the first of the month.
- What a funded session costs the pot. The full £50, the same as any session, so the person delivering it is paid the same £35, the running costs and the £5 line (specialist supervision, wellbeing and reflective practice) are covered, and £2 goes straight back into the pot.
- Ask for what you need. A request can be one session or a package. A big request is spread across months, so each month leaves room for the next person. Nobody is asked why, and nobody is asked for proof.
- Open book. The places funded and the places left are published on the first of every month; the balance in pounds goes to the board at every meeting and into the yearly accounts, so that while one person delivers most sessions the pot never becomes a running meter of their work. If the pot ever holds more than a year of its cap, the board can open extra places or fund a group, and says so in the open. If Sidecic closed, the pot would pass to another asset-locked body with the same aims.
- The word. The key to the pot is the word hidden in the ten-minute course on our website. It changes every six months, and the course with it. The same for everyone: a parent, a professional, a young person, a neighbour.
- Who decides. The board adopts this charter, sets the monthly cap and reviews it each quarter. The lead runs the pot month to month and reports to the board in numbers, never names.
Where the money goes, and where it does not
- The pot is held in Sidecic’s own bank account and shown in our books.
- The places it funds are published here on the first of every month.
- The balance goes to the board at every meeting, and into our yearly accounts.
- As a community interest company, our money can only ever be used for our community purpose.
- A community interest company cannot claim Gift Aid, and nothing is owed back to anyone.
